African huts

The accommodation in Um Tondoba eco-lodge is either in a tastefully constructed African style hut (all huts are uniquely decorated designed by our local artist Mostafa) or you can stay in a chalet with en suite toilet and shower. The huts are erected over an upland and each is different from the other and has a character of its own. They bear different names, for instance "Passion" or "Moonrise. Each hut comprises a twin bed and a cupboard made of sackcloth. The walls are entirely painted, very skillfully with either coloured murals of dolphin tails, deep sea fish, turtles and corals (ever fancied sleeping on the seabed?) or silhouettes of people. In every room, a quatrain from the English-translated version of Egyptian vernacular poet Salah Jahin's Rubaiyat is painted on the wall, leaving one to wonder overnight about man's flaws and foolishness. If you choose to stay in one the African huts, you can use the public restroom facilities. The bathrooms and showers are situated close to the restaurant and are cleaned daily by our staff. The showers provide warm water.
